Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Rockford East

Rockford East had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They took down the Hononegah Indians 58-43. This was a revenge game for the E-Rabs: when they faced off against the Indians back in December of 2024, they had to take a 52-51 loss.

Rockford East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sterling Hoarde, who posted 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. The contest was Hoarde's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marquis Goldsmith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Rockford East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Rockford East pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Hononegah, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Rockford East will take on Freeport at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Rockford East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Freeport likes a good challenge. As for Hononegah, they will challenge Belvidere North at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hononegah is facing Belvidere North at the right time seeing as Belvidere North is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
