Salisbury is 8-2 against North Rowan since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Hornets will head out to take on the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, Salisbury came up short against Atkins and fell 8-4.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous six match, North Rowan brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They came out on top against Lexington by a score of 17-12 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Chase Cauble and Caleb Everett made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cauble struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Everett tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Cauble has posted since back in March. At the plate, Cauble got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Everett went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Cauble has become a key player for North Rowan: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Dylan Garrigus was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
North Rowan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
North Rowan's record is now 4-11. As for Salisbury, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Everything went Salisbury's way against North Rowan in their previous matchup on April 2nd, as Salisbury made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
