Baseball Recap: Volunteer Has No Trouble Against Unaka

Volunteer won against Happy Valley on Friday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Falcons' way against the Unaka Rangers as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rangers, too.

Jameson Mowell looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greyson Dennis was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Coleton Huff also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Volunteer and bumps their season record up to 8-19. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Unaka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Volunteer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Unaka, they will take on University School at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Rangers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
