Two dominant guards in Kailee Bransford and Madison Parrish are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Mount Notre Dame will head out on the road to challenge the Mason Comets at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mount Notre Dame posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 66-34 victory over St. Ursula Academy on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mount Notre Dame has posted against St. Ursula Academy since January 26, 2021.
Mount Notre Dame can attribute much of their success to Grace Pitzer, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Laila Harrison, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Pitzer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bransford, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Mason entered their tilt with Middletown with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Mason really took it to Middletown for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-37 victory at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-21.
Mount Notre Dame pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Mason, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Mount Notre Dame couldn't quite finish off Mason when the teams last played back in March of 2022 and fell 43-41. Can Mount Notre Dame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
