Foothill is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Faith Lutheran is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Foothill Falcons will take on the Faith Lutheran Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Foothill humbled Durango with a 33-6 victory.
Mason Dew continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 274 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Dew is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Foothill also got help from Braxton Bonnett who showed off his sure hands for 128 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran took their matchup at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 44-6 victory over Las Vegas. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-0.
Faith Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Garyt Odom, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 29 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Breslin, who rushed for 91 yards on only 11 carries.
Faith Lutheran's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Mitchell Bailes and his two sacks.
Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Faith Lutheran, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Foothill has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 304.5 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Faith Lutheran, though, as they've been averaging only 139.7 per game. How will Faith Lutheran fare against such a dominant passing game?
