Dilley extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-9. They came up short against the Lytle Pirates, falling 18-2. The Wolves were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Dilley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barrett Collier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
As for Lytle, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.
On Lytle's side, Travis Norton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Norton a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lytle's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6-1 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Ethan Elizondo looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Lytle let Toby Davila and Weston Jackson run wild. Davila got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Jackson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Lytle is 12-1 when Davila posts two or more runs, but 3-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Barco, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dilley will face off against rival Natalia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lytle is set to square off against their familiar foe Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
