The Tri-City Christian Eagles will head out to face off against the Bishop's Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-City Christian will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
While Tri-City Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Coastal Academy with a sharp 8-0 win on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Marissa Chronic's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lilly Halverson and Kaedyn Ybarra did most of the damage at the plate: Halverson scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Ybarra scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Abby Lisak was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bishop's hadn't done well against Foothills Christian recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Bishop's came out on top against Foothills Christian by a score of 8-3.
Jessica Yao spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Bailey Brightenburg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nora Wiese, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Tri-City Christian pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Bishop's, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2-1 record this season.
Tri-City Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bishop's, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Tri-City Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Tri-City Christian took their victory against Bishop's in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
