The Arcanum Trojans entered their tilt with the Dixie Greyhounds with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Arcanum strolled past Dixie with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 44-30. Given Arcanum's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Dixie is ranked 591st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Arcanum's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Gibbons, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Matty Noe, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Arcanum has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Dixie, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Arcanum will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Covington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Covington is on a three-game streak of home wins, Arcanum a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Dixie will be home for the holidays to greet Brookville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
