East fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the West Branch Warriors on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 73-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Sunday (70), East still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah Mccray. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points. That was a full 40.8% of East's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cam'eron Sly was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
East has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for West Branch, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East will take on Chaney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for West Branch, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Salem at 6:45 p.m. Salem will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 555th, while West Branch is ranked 134th).
