O'Connor has gone 8-2 against Taft recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The O'Connor Panthers will challenge the Taft Raiders at 5:00 p.m. O'Connor will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
O'Connor is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Stevens 20-0 on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
O'Connor got a massive performance out of Araceli Alonzo, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Alonzo a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Ganter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Alonzo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: O'Connor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Taft didn't have quite enough to beat Brennan on Wednesday and fell 2-1. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alyssa Rangel was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Rangel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
O'Connor's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. O'Connor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went O'Connor's way against Taft when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as O'Connor made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for O'Connor since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
