Emjay Peck made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Nelson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Anniston Aragon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Viewpoint always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, St. Bonaventure suffered their closest defeat since April 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Rio Mesa by a score of 8-6. The Seraphs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Maci Schotten made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Audrina Tinoco also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Viewpoint's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs over those games. As for St. Bonaventure, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
St. Bonaventure's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Viewpoint has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 14.7 hits per game. It's a different story for St. Bonaventure, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Viewpoint's sizable advantage in that area, St. Bonaventure will need to find a way to close that gap.
