The Cypress Creek Bears posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They skirted past University 42-40. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cypress Creek.
Cypress Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Giani Moreno, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iliana Dorvilus, who scored nine points.
When it comes to explaining why University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacqueline Leap. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 20 rebounds. Leap also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Laura Martinez, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
The win got Cypress Creek back to even at 5-5. As for University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Cypress Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Celebration at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for University, University and Winter Park will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Winter Park is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
