The Fort Wayne Wayne Generals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 69-54 to Whitko. While losing is never fun, Fort Wayne Wayne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Whitko is ranked 95th).
Fort Wayne Wayne lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Khalise Collins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Layla Williams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Whitko got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Stonebraker out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Stonebraker hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayma Stonebraker, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Fort Wayne Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Whitko, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne Wayne will take on Fort Wayne Northrop at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Whitko, they will be playing at home against Maconaquah at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Maconaquah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Tuesday.
