There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Tolman's 42 - 18 win over Pilgrim last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Justin Klemanchuck. Klemanchuck earned two touchdowns and 212 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Klemanchuck as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between North Kingstown (2nd in the power rankings) and Cumberland (7th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. North Kingstown had all the answers against Cumberland, winning 35 - 14. The power rankings were completely indifferent to the match, so neither team moved up or down this week.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 78-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Moses Brown came out on top against South Kingstown with a 43 - 35 win. The South Kingstown defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 30 points per game), and Moses Brown took advantage of that.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Mt. Hope (11th in the power rankings) and Westerly (3rd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
