The Hawkins Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Dymally Challengers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hawkins entered their tilt with Port of Los Angeles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Hawkins claimed a resounding 80-48 win over Port of Los Angeles on the road. Hawkins pushed the score to 58-33 by the end of the third, a deficit Port of Los Angeles had little chance of recovering from.
Hawkins relied on the efforts of Desmaj Murphy, who scored 19 points, and De'Meiko Crawford, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Boston, who scored 13 points.
Even though Dymally has not done well against View Park recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dymally managed a 58-53 victory over View Park. The win was just what Dymally needed coming off of a 80-38 defeat in their prior game.
Amonte Mobley was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 0 assists. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mendoza, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Hawkins has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Dymally, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Everything went Hawkins' way against Dymally when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Hawkins made off with a 70-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hawkins since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
