Lytle is 10-0 against Natalia since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lytle Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Natalia Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Lytle knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Natalia likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lytle gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crystal City 62-35 at home. Given Lytle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Crystal City is ranked 917th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Natalia came up short against Hondo on Friday and fell 48-39. Natalia has not had much luck with Hondo recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Yahdi Lujan, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Lujan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyla Saenz, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lytle has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Natalia, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season.
Everything went Lytle's way against Natalia when the teams last played on January 5th as Lytle made off with a 63-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lytle since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
