The Red Mesa Redskins won the last time they faced the Grand Canyon Phantoms, and things went their way on Saturday too. Red Mesa took down Grand Canyon 54-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for Red Mesa.
Red Mesa can attribute much of their success to Shyla Pipkin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Daleni Nakai, who scored 14 points.
Despite the defeat, Grand Canyon saw an underclassman step up: Ellanina Nanacasia scored 11 points.
Red Mesa's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Grand Canyon, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Mesa is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Valley at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Valley is ranked 136th, while Red Mesa is ranked 155th). Grand Canyon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pinon at 2:30 p.m. on December 9th.
