Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Amundsen's Winning Streak

Amundsen dropped their record down to 10-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Lane Tech Champions by a score of 3-2. The Vikings were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Champions' pitcher proved too tough.

Amundsen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frances Oliver, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Nyla Carraway also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Lane Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

On Lane Tech's side, Grace Brobson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gianna Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amundsen will take on Oak Park-River Forest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lane Tech, they will square off against Whitney Young at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
