The Mingo Central Miners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They lost to WestSide at home by a decisive 70-52 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mingo Central of the 67-50 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
WestSide's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Bishop, who scored 19 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadien Vance, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Mingo Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for WestSide, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Mingo Central will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Wyoming East presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Miners in West Virginia (the Warriors are ranked 34th, while the Miners are ranked 89th). WestSide's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Nicholas County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
