The Newtown Nighthawks and the New Milford Green Wave will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Newtown and eight for New Milford.
Newtown pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 80-66 fall against Bunnell.
Meanwhile, New Milford came up short against Stratford on Friday and fell 50-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ryder Gee, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Czupkowski, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Newtown's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6. As for New Milford, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Newtown came out on top in a nail-biter against New Milford when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 58-56. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was New Milford's Nico Coloneri, who scored 21 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Newtown to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
