The Bishop Carroll Huskies will head out to face off against the Clearfield Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Carroll has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bishop Carroll headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for eight straight, but Blacklick Valley let them put that streak behind them. The Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings on Wednesday, sneaking past 17-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since April 8, 2024.
Adelyn Myers was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Olienyk, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Bishop Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Clearfield had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Bradford on Wednesday. The Bison not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 14-3).
Megan Wisor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Clearfield got a massive performance out of Haley Billotte, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Billotte has posted since back in March of 2024. Eve Siegel was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Bishop Carroll's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Clearfield, their record now sits at 5-8.
Bishop Carroll suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Clearfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
