Basketball Recap: Munster Comes Up Short

Munster suffered their biggest defeat since November 15th on Saturday. They came up short against the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans, falling 62-40. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Munster lost, don't look at Nina Garner. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 12 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds. Garner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Igboamaka Odeluga was another key player, putting up five points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Indianapolis Bishop Chatard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Betsy Tragesser, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Tragesser a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Berzai, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Munster's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Munster will head out to square off against Andrean at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Munster is facing Andrean at the right time seeing as Andrean is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they will take on East Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
