The Vista Murrieta Broncos won the last time they faced the Murrieta Mesa Rams, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Vista Murrieta blew past the Rams 79-52 on the road. Given Vista Murrieta's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Rams are ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vista Murrieta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Guinn led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cisco Munoz, who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals.
Vista Murrieta's win bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Murrieta Mesa, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.
Vista Murrieta will square off against the Pumas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Murrieta Mesa will take on the Wolfpack at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Great Oak knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Rams likes a good challenge.
