Even though the West Jordan Jaguars scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, the Hunter Wolverines still came out on top. Hunter came out on top in a nail-biter against West Jordan and snuck past 65-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Hunter has posted yet this season.
Hunter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kalysa Ng, who scored 29 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ng has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Gallagher, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 13 rebounds, and ten blocks.
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rochelle Afo Manuma, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Afo Manuma is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Giselle Muffet, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, West Jordan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hunter and bumps their season record up to 8-9. As for West Jordan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hunter will take on Kearns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kearns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday. As for West Jordan, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Taylorsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
