The Lee Central Stallions will head out on the road to challenge the Kingstree Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Lee Central: 26.8, Kingstree: 26.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
Last Friday, Lee Central came up short against Marion and fell 40-31.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mylasia Dennis, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Serenity Williams, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Kingstree waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. Everything went their way against Mullins as Kingstree made off with a 46-21 victory. Kingstree has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 25 points or more this season.
MAKAYLA DUKES continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. DUKES is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least five every time she's taken the court this season. SANIYA TAYLOR was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Lee Central's defeat ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-4. As for Kingstree, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's contest: Lee Central have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Kingstree, though, as they've only made 27.6% of their threes this season. Given Lee Central's sizable advantage in that area, Kingstree will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lee Central came up short against Kingstree when the teams last played back in January, falling 30-23. Can Lee Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
