After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Moose Lake/Willow River, Hinckley-Finlayson was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Ogilvie Lions. Considering the Jaguars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Aris Richey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Richey was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Annie Alleman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Violet Albrect also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Hinckley-Finlayson's record now sits at 5-3. As for Ogilvie, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Hinckley-Finlayson will venture away from home to square off against Aitkin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ogilvie, they will head out to take on Crosby-Ironton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
