Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pueblo West

Pueblo West entered their tilt with Fountain-Fort Carson on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 12-0 shutout. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cyclones yet this season.

Pueblo West got a massive performance out of Jaiven Baca, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Baca a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Mares, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Pueblo West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pueblo West pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Pueblo West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
