Samantha Bradbury made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyleigh Hall, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Madison Lindus was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Chalker hadn't done well against Pymatuning Valley recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Lakers by a score of 14-11. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Badger, Chalker also got a great game from a two-way player: Tatum Hudak. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off 12 hits. Hudak has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Chalker got a massive performance out of Morgan Strock, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Riley Ashcraft, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.
Chalker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Chalker's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Badger, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4.
Badger might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Chalker in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Braves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
