The Pacific Indians will face off against the St. Clair Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pacific 2.1, St. Clair 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
St. Clair will be up against a hot Pacific squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand Owensville a 12-0 shutout on Monday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Not much got past Bennett Parker, who gave up just five hits to keep Owensville off the board. Parker has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Connor Mooney and Gavin Haddox did most of the damage at the plate: Mooney got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Haddox went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Mooney has posted since back in April of 2024. James Imus was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Pacific hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, St. Clair has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Union, falling 10-3. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Nate Short made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Robbins, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
St. Clair now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Pacific, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
St. Clair's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pacific has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. It's a different story for St. Clair, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Pacific's hitters?
Pacific was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Clair in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
