University City moved up to 514 from 542 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central. The Centurions were able to make the jump by beating Escondido Charter 65-35.
University City led the league in scoring this week after putting up 65 points on the White Tigers. Dominic Lewis threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns and ran for six yards in the win.
Eric Perry's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Marcus Avelino chipped in 176 yards. Devante Pritchett helped University City's passing attack out by catching three balls for 87 yards.
Kyle LeBlanc was the best wideout in the league this week as the Centurions defeated Escondido Charter. LeBlanc racked up three receptions for 104 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Michael Carrillo of Christian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 539. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, University City's Avelino has rushed for 501 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Pritchett. The University City star has 15 catches for 173 yards.
The Centurions made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,699 from 7,184. The advance stemmed from a 65-35 victory over Greg Brose's team last week.
