Basketball Recap: Temple Christian Comes Up Short

Temple Christian lost against Timberlake Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Temple Christian Crusaders took a hard 55-39 fall against the Timberlake Christian Tornadoes.

When it comes to explaining why Temple Christian lost, don't look at Emily DeStafano. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. DeStafano has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Conner, who posted 18 points.

Even though they lost, Temple Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Among those leading the charge was Rowan Yerrington, who went 10 for 19 en route to 25 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsie Smyth, who had five points and six steals.

Temple Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Timberlake Christian, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.

Temple Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-42 loss against Faith Christian on the 3rd. Timberlake Christian has also already played their next game, a 60-44 defeat against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy on the 3rd.
