Glenbard West hasn't had much luck against Oak Park-River Forest recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers will be playing at home against the Huskies at 4:45 p.m. Glenbard West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Glenbard West came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Wheaton-Warrenville South, falling 13-5.
Ainslie Bobroff made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Bobroff, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Oak Park-River Forest's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Lyons by a score of 3-2. The Huskies were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Lions' pitchers proved too tough.
Oak Park-River Forest also got a good showing from Carolyn Rainey, who struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Elyssa Hasapis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Glenbard West's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 18-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Glenbard West hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oak Park-River Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Glenbard West suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Oak Park-River Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
