The Eagle Mustangs won the last time they faced the Capital Golden Eagles, and things went their way on Saturday too. Eagle came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 55-45. Given Eagle's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eagle was led to victory by Berkley Jones and Mary (molly) johnson. Jones scored 16 points along with two steals, while (molly) johnson scored 17 points. Alyson Vieira was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Eagle is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Capital, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.
Eagle is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Middleton will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak. Capital does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
