James Downing put up the most runs he's had since back in March on Thursday. He scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of New Brockton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't).

Downing's strong effort led New Brockton over Pike County and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gamecocks are a perfect 10-0 against the Bulldogs going back to February of 2017, a lead they'll look to extend.
