Basketball Recap: Emma Howell Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Chazy hadn't done well against Boquet Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Chazy Eagles managed a 43-38 win over the Boquet Valley Griffins. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Griffins back in December of 2024, they had to take a 47-23 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chazy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Howell, who posted 20 points and three steals. That's the most points Howell has posted since back in February of 2024. Carly LaPierre was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six boards and four steals.

Chazy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Boquet Valley lost, don't look at Claire Reynolds. Despite the final result, she went 10 for 23 on her way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 55.3% of Boquet Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ella Pulsifer, who had two points along with six boards and six steals.

Chazy's record now sits at 6-4. As for Boquet Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chazy has already played their next game (against Saranac Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Boquet Valley will square off against Bolton Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
