The Fairmont Firebirds will head out on the road to take on the Troy Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairmont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Fairmont had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Miamisburg on Friday. The Firebirds' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jaylin Turner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Fairmont got a massive performance out of Carlee Netherton, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Netherton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Baker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Fairmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Troy was able to grind out a solid victory over Piqua on Friday, taking the game 10-6.
Troy also got a great performance from Reese Campbell as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Maliah Shaw was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Makayla Kennedy was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Fairmont's record is now 15-10. As for Troy, their record now sits at 23-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Fairmont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Troy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fairmont got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 against Troy by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
