The Swansea Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a tough 41-20 loss at the hands of Lake Marion. Swansea was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake Marion apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.
Despite the loss, Swansea still got an impressive performance from Janiya Edmond, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Danasia Wright, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals for Lake Marion. Wright is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Teonna Allen was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Swansea's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Lake Marion, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swansea will take on Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Orangeburg-Wilkinson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Swansea in South Carolina (Orangeburg-Wilkinson is ranked 59th, while Swansea is ranked 200th). As for Lake Marion, they will head out on the road to take on Academic Magnet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Academic Magnet has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13.
