Two dominant players in Jaylon Hoover and AJ Washington are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Clover Blue Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, Clover strolled past Spring Valley with points to spare, taking the game 63-47.
Meanwhile, Fort Mill unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Spring Valley 62-56.
Despite the loss, Fort Mill saw an underclassman step up: Washington scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Washington has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nas Berry, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Fort Mill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Clover has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Fort Mill, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.
Clover came up short against Fort Mill when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 61-50. Can Clover avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
