The Peebles Indians will venture away from home to take on the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Peebles has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Peebles didn't have quite enough to beat Piketon and fell 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly two runs.
Kaelyn Musser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kendall Myers made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Lynchburg-Clay scored first but ultimately less than North Adams in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of the Green Devils by a score of 5-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 8, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Noel Barnhill put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Barnhill was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
Barnhill wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Peebles' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Lynchburg-Clay, their record now sits at 9-9.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Peebles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Lynchburg-Clay struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Peebles was able to grind out a solid victory over Lynchburg-Clay when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 7-2. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
