The Homer-Center Wildcats will square off against the Northern Cambria Colts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Homer-Center took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cambria Heights 3-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Homer-Center let Noah Turk and Braden Dunn run wild. Turk went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Dunn scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Dunn a new career-high in stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Northern Cambria got the win against Marion Center on Wednesday by a conclusive 13-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Colts.
Shawn Gisler made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Reese Wagner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
Back at the plate, Ben Messina was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Parker Shutty was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Northern Cambria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion Center only managed five hits.
Northern Cambria's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Homer-Center, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Homer-Center beat Northern Cambria 6-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Homer-Center repeat their success, or does Northern Cambria have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
