Two dominant guards in Keiontay Marsh and Brian Singleton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Adams Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Conrad Chargers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Adams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
Even though Adams has not done well against West Mesquite recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Adams came out on top against West Mesquite by a score of 58-48. The win was all the more spectacular given Adams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 759th, while West Mesquite is ranked 177th).
Adams' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terell Toomas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jonah Pacheco was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Conrad's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 61-32 loss at the hands of Seagoville. Conrad has not had much luck with Seagoville recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Adams has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-18 record this season. As for Conrad, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17.
Adams came up short against Conrad when the teams last played back in January, falling 60-47. Can Adams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
