The Bishop McGuinness Villains will take on the Bethany Community Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bishop McGuinness took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Millennium get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Villains in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Bethany Community got the win against Carver on Friday by a conclusive 25-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
Levi Martin made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bethany Community got a massive performance out of Brooks McDowell, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. McDowell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Tucker, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Bethany Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bethany Community pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Bishop McGuinness, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Everything went Bishop McGuinness' way against Bethany Community when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Bishop McGuinness made off with a 13-1 victory.
