The Frankfort Hot Dogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Clinton Prairie by a score of 44-41. Frankfort has not had much luck with Clinton Prairie recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Loss or not, Frankfort got some senior leadership from Vannessa Guardado and Saira Flores. Guardado dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Flores. scored two points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guardado has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Frankfort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clinton Prairie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abbey Swan led the charge by scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds. Taylor Morgan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Frankfort's defeat was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-19. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Clinton Prairie, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16.
Frankfort will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Southmont at 7:30 p.m. Southmont will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Clinton Prairie, they will head out on the road to take on Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
