Softball Recap: Kingman Academy Wins Going Away Against Parker

While Kingman Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Parker. Everything went the Kingman Academy Tigers' way against the Parker Broncs as the Kingman Academy Tigers made off with an 18-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 18 runs or more this season.

Emily Mathys made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Zubia, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taylee Mote, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Kingman Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Kingman Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Parker, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Kingman Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Williams on the 12th. As for Parker, they will take on El Capitan at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
