The Brevard Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Asheville Christian Academy Lions at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brevard put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over R-S Central. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-15.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brevard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Crite, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Baker Buchanan, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Asheville Christian Academy took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 76-29 victory over the Wildcats. Given Asheville Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Wildcats are ranked 485th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win (which was Brevard's third in a row) raised their record to 11-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Asheville Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.
Brevard came up short against the Lions in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 61-53. Can Brevard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
