The Coal Ridge Titans lost against the Forge Christian Fury back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Coal Ridge fell just short of Forge Christian by a score of 49-47. Coal Ridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Coal Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Alex Cornejo scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Cornejo is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Simpson, who scored 9 points.
Forge Christian can attribute much of their success to Peyton Miller, who scored 13 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Miller has scored at least 25% of Forge Christian's points. Owen Hovis was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Coal Ridge now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Forge Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Coal Ridge and Glenwood Springs will face off at 2:30 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Glenwood Springs is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Forge Christian will be home for the holidays to greet D'Evelyn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
