On Thursday, the Elkhorn Antlers faced the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Elkhorn enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Ashland-Greenwood. The victory was nothing new for Elkhorn as they're now sitting on three straight.
Luke Howard was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cole Petersen, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Elkhorn's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Ashland-Greenwood, their loss ended a 19-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhorn will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Crete at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Crete has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 853 points over their last 12 matches. Ashland-Greenwood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Boys Town at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th.
