After a string of three wins, the Albuquerque Academy Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a serious blow against Farmington, falling 67-33. While losing is never fun, Albuquerque Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Farmington is ranked second).
Albuquerque Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Addie Spratley, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Noelani Montoya who scored eight points along with six rebounds. The contest was Spratley's third in a row with at least ten points.
Kapiolani Anitielu was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 2 assists for Farmington. The matchup was Anitielu's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kjani Anitielu was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and six steals.
Albuquerque Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. As for Farmington, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albuquerque Academy and Highland will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. Farmington and Organ Mountain will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Organ Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
