On Friday, the Piedmont Wildcats faced the Ada Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Piedmont managed a 43-39 victory over Ada. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Piedmont has scored all year.
When it comes to explaining why Ada lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carter Colombe. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Colombe is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Devon Maccollister was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
The victory for Piedmont keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Ada, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Piedmont won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tuttle. Ada won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bishop McGuinness at 5:30 p.m. on December 9th. Bishop McGuinness will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Ada is ranked 21st).
