Softball Recap: Albuquerque Wins Going Away Against St. Pius X

Albuquerque lost to St. Pius X back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Albuquerque put the hurt on St. Pius X with a sharp 11-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Raquel Waldrop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yaslene Jimenez, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Annika Stanley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Albuquerque was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pius X only posted a batting average of .207.

Albuquerque's record now sits at 8-6. As for St. Pius X, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, Albuquerque will welcome Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.67 runs per game on average), something Albuquerque will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Pius X, they will head out to face off against Belen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
